3 Valentine-Themed Social Media Ideas for Your Pharmacy

Show your patients and staff you care with some thoughtful pharmacy valentine’s day ideas! 

Besides being the most romantic holiday, Valentine’s is also one of the biggest sale days of the year. According to research by ContactPigeon, it comes in second on the retail calendar, just behind Black Friday, with an estimated $19.8 billion spent in 2018. 

With so many opportunities to increase seasonal business and engage customers, it’s important to get creative with your pharmacy’s social media marketing. Here are three methods for promoting your pharmacy on social media this Valentine’s Day that your patients will fall in love with.

Create a romantic raffle or gift guide with local businesses. 

Flowers, chocolates, beauty and grooming products, and spa items all make great gifts, and if you sell any or all of these items, you have the makings of a seasonal Valentine’s Day offering.

But if you don’t have the kind of stock that can be sold as gift baskets, consider teaming up with local businesses to create something special for your patients. Restaurants, clothing and gift stores, and even local artisans can help you put together a romantic package for a raffle. 

You can also help cross-promote your pharmacy by creating themed contests with fellow business owners, offering prizes like gift certificates or sponsored Valentine’s dates.

At this shopping center, a restaurant, movie theatre, and home goods store collaborated to create a contest for an all-expenses-paid “Dinner Date.”

Engage your audience by making Valentine’s Day inclusive.

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for happy couples. Many people also purchase gifts for family members, teachers, friends, and pets. Consider what stock you might have on hand, such as office supplies, pet care products, or cards that can double as an appreciation gift and promote them before and during the holiday.

It’s also important to keep in mind that not everyone celebrates Valentine’s Day the same way. Singles Awareness Day and Galentine’s Day are two popular alternatives to the traditional romantic version of the holiday. In order to appeal to the most people possible, keep your marketing light and fun and use gender-neutral language. 

Try sharing your messages with innovative graphics, like this one, instead of overloading followers with pink and red hearts.

Share the human side of your pharmacy.

If Valentine’s Day is about sharing the love, then it’s a great time to shine a spotlight on your employees and staff. Try showing appreciation online by doing fun themed staff photos and creating staff introductions that tell your patients a little about them. You can also consider a little Q&A where you ask them what they love about working at your pharmacy or about their holiday plans and sharing their answers on your Facebook page. 

Miami Dade Parks is a great example: they did an entire Employee Spotlight series for Valentine’s Day with quotes and photos of staff at work.
