3000 pharmacists, 257 exhibitors, 70,000 square feet of space, (undisclosed) number of Hurricanes. That was the NCPA Conference by the numbers. But the numbers don’t tell the true story.
The true story of the 2016 NCPA Conference was the opportunity to interact and make personal connections with community pharmacists from around the country, pharmacists that share a single vision – providing fantastic healthcare to the people in their local community.
From talking with Michael from TexasStar Pharmacy about his expansion plans, to sharing a plane ride back with Andy and Jessica from Stonegate Pharmacy and discussing trends in compounding, to chatting with Kurt, Stacey, Whitney, and others from the great gang at the NCPA about what RxWiki and NCPA have got up our sleeves for 2017 – it was invigorating and re-energizing, filling my head with ideas and my heart with inspiration.
For me personally, the highlight of the conference was the session I delivered on “Engaging Patients using Online Tools to Drive Adherence and Business” for two key reasons. Firstly, it was extremely flattering to see so many people showed up to the session. Secondly, it was encouraging to see so much engagement in the attendees. It really showed that community pharmacists are recognizing the importance of digital marketing. But it also showed that there is still so much more we need to do to help community pharmacists get started with, and drive, their digital marketing campaigns.
In a nutshell, I left the conference full of confidence – confidence that the community pharmacist movement, even in the face of so many regulatory, financial and competitive challenges, is strong and powerful. And confidence that by helping community pharmacists leverage the power of digital marketing, I’m doing my part for that movement.
If I don’t see you before then, see in you Orlando in October 2017!
