Independent pharmacies are notorious for being a huge part of the local communities they serve. So in the spirit of the holidays, we asked our pharmacies if they have any special plans for giving back to the community. Check out what real pharmacists had to say.
The results are in, and 63% of pharmacists said they have plans to do something special for the community. Toy drives and bingo were among the most common give-back plans (you can tell by the survey word bubble!). The folks over at Foundation Care Pharmacy plan to “collect food for Operation Food Search and work with the US Marines on Toys for Tots.”
Pickerington Pharmacy told us the story of how they’re thrilled to start a new tradition this holiday season. “We are under new ownership after almost 26 years. So I figured why not try to start a new tradition? I reached out to our local firehouse and now we are a drop off location for the Violet Township Firefighters Holiday Toy Drive. It was a slow start but after some Facebook posts, our box is now overflowing!”
While Pickerington Pharmacy starts a new tradition, City View Pharmacy is continuing with their long-standing tradition and “hosting [their] 11th Annual Holiday Toy Drive.”
Kay Pharmacy #003 is making sure the elderly people of their community have people to share the holidays with. They’re choosing to have “Holiday bingo events in some of the retirement homes in the neighborhood.”
While these are only a few special stories from real pharmacies, we know that independent pharmacies give so much to their community year-round. On behalf of all of us at RxWiki, thank you for all you do.
