Five Ways to Bring Your Pharmacy Forward in 2020

Last updated Jul 19, 2022 | COVID-19, Pharmacy Marketing

As 2019 comes to an end, we want to make sure your pharmacy is equipped to hit the ground running in the new year. We compiled a list of our top five pharmacy resolutions that will bring your pharmacy into 2020.

1. Stay Active on Social Media

In a digital world, social media plays a powerful role, helping businesses promote their products and services and connect with potential customers. To start building an online audience and interacting with patients outside of your store, we recommend posting on your pharmacy Facebook business page at least once or twice each week.

Examples of some possible posts you could share include: pharmacy or community events, special promotions, seasonal health content, behind-the-scenes videos or stories, and staff profiles.  By posting regularly on social media, you can reach a wider audience while also keeping in touch with your current patient base.

2. Focus on Your Marketing Strategy

A good marketing strategy leverages many different online and offline channels, such as your website, email, social media, and in-store ads and displays. The most effective marketing campaigns run on multiple channels at once.

Have a new seasonal offering? Try turning the promotion into a graphic for your website, a Facebook post, a group text through your mobile app, and an in-store flyer or banner. This will help you reach your entire patient base and, by tracking your efforts, tell you what channels and types of marketing work best for your pharmacy. No matter which channels you decide to use, always make sure your message and voice are consistent across the board.

3. Offer All Five Refill Methods: Website, Mobile App, IVR, Text, and In-Person

To be readily accessible to all current and potential patients, your pharmacy’s prescription refills should be available across as many digital, mobile, and offline channels as possible. Digital and mobile refills can be convenient for patients on the go, while text or IVR can be beneficial for older or homebound patients.

Optimize all inbound and outbound refill channels to best serve your local community with seamless tools and easy-to-use processes. Consider being flexible with your fulfillment offerings as well by offering delivery or pickup if possible. Are you missing one or more of the listed channels? 4. Respond to All Reviews

Positive business reviews are an important part of driving new business, especially for pharmacies. Customer feedback, and how you handle it, will be one of the first things that potential patients see when they search for pharmacies in your area.

Your responsiveness can not only showcase the quality of your customer service, but it also shows that you put your patients first.

Responding to positive comments is easy, but don’t let the negative ones slip through the cracks. When faced with an angry customer, it’s best to apologize, stay professional, and address their concerns head-on. Your customers will forgive mistakes — own up to them and prove why you’re still the best around.

5. Educate Your Patients

Education is key to driving patient adherence and overall health. Provide dynamic content that your patients can relate to — the more relatable, the more likely it will stick with them. Your content can range from everyday health news and tips for seasonal issues like sunstroke and the flu to guides on how digital tools can optimize health.

Keep your patients informed and up-to-date by posting health content on your website and sharing it on your Facebook page.
