5 Ways Pharmacies can Leverage TikTok

TikTok is a video-sharing platform that has gained major use over the last few years. Because of its popularity, it has become one of the top places to market a business.

From short videos making audiences laugh to informative videos solving a problem for consumers, the videos posted on TikTok vastly range. Pharmacies have a place here as well. TikTok is a great social media platform to get your name and services out in a new and novel way. By posting videos, replying to comments, engaging with hashtags – you are marketing your brand.

So, how should your pharmacy get started using TikTok? Below are 5 ways your pharmacy can leverage TikTok to grow your business.

1) Engage with Trends and Hashtags

Look within the TikTok app for trending sounds and hashtags. Once you’ve found music or voice overs that are trending, use them in your own way. Search hashtags and engage with the audience. Utilize these hashtags on your posts. The more you engage, the more you will see growth.

2) Make “Duets” or Videos with Other Creators

A Duet is a video directly engaging with an already existing video, where they each appear side-by-side. Pharmacists can use a TikTok Duet to add additional information to another healthcare related video, add insight to a concept people don’t usually think of as related to pharmacy, or address a misconception or falsehood that another video stated. 

Additionally, collaborating with other creators or pharmacies on TikTok allows you to reach an even broader audience. By both parties sharing the video and engaging, this helps to market your pharmacy to consumers that may not have seen the video if just you posted it.

3) Educate on What’s Relevant

TikTok is a great place to educate about simple healthcare topics. The TikTok user base (and most social media users) love to feel like they’ve learned something relevant and useful when watching videos. Bonus points if you can make them laugh or share an easy-to-follow tip.

How can you go about making these types of videos? Search healthcare topics or topics about medications that people feel strongly about then make educational videos about them. Make sure these videos are easy for the average person to understand. Then when your audience engages with the video and shares or comments on them, your audience grows.


4) Video Replies


TikTok has a feature in which a user can reply to a comment on their post with a new video. This video reply feature is perfect for answering the pharmacy and healthcare related questions you receive on your posts. If one user asks a question, you can go ahead and make a video reply – now you have answered a question most likely others have as well and you have created content for the day very easily.

    5) Do your Own TikTok Research AKA Join the App


    When it comes to social media, you can of course do a lot of research on how to use it, but nothing compares to trying it out for yourself. Download TikTok, make a simple video for your pharmacy, look up hashtags, add a trending sound, engage with the comments once you post it and see how it all feels. The more you practice, the more you will get the hang of the app and see growth.
