With a simple tote bag promotion, Elkton Family Pharmacy was able to increase mobile app downloads during their five-year anniversary.
For an independent pharmacy, a 5-year anniversary is something worth celebrating. Elkton Family Pharmacy manager, Randy Bryant, was looking for a unique way to commemorate the milestone while promoting their mobile app and website.
Randy decided to create custom, reusable tote bags made with the store slogan and logo. Any customer who downloaded their mobile app received a free bag. They advertised the promotion with signage around the store as well as on their Facebook page and website. Randy also enlisted the help of his staff to ask any new customer if they are using a smartphone and to talk about the features and benefits of downloading and refilling with their mobile app.
The marketing efforts paid off by reaching over 1,800 people. Each week, they experienced a 100% increase in mobile app downloads and a 25% increase in mobile app refills.
“We’ve received very steady results with this marketing campaign. We have people coming in every week showing us their downloaded app.” Randy mentioned that although they began the promotion a few months ago, they are still receiving downloads and customer inquiries requesting their bags.
Randy plans on running the campaign until they run out of tote-bags. Thinking outside of the box with branded merchandise allowed Elkton Family Pharmacy to grow patient digital engagement and reward customers with an eco-friendly bag that continues to promote the pharmacy.
